In 2009, it was made a two day event and in 2011 it was made a three day in Las Vegas with the event attracting 230,000 people. In 2015, it received over 400,000 in three days (135,000 a day).
Electric Daisy Carnival was first held on August 29, 1997, on an outdoor ground in Los Angeles, California, which was organized by Gary Richards (music executive) and Steve Kool-Aid. It was an annual event, and it was held in the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles in the year 1997.
Electric Daisy Carnival was a name that Insomniac partner Philip Blaine came up with. The name was given the green light by Steve Kool-Aid via Gary Richards as an ode to the predecessor of the same name that had been created several years prior. Philip had then been partners with Gary Richards at 1500 Records. The annual electronic music festival was first held in different locations in Southern California Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Exposition Park, Los Angeles, National Orange Show Events Center, San Bernardino, Queen Mary Events Park, Long Beach, Dolores Water Park, Barstow and the Agri-Center, Tulare.
The first year that the festival was hosted in Puerto Rico was in 2009. The event was extended to Dallas, Texas in 2010 and an event was added in Orlando, Florida in 2011. In 2012, EDC opened other locations to New York and in 2013 to Milton Keynes in the UK and Chicago. Mexico City was the first place where it made its appearance in 2014, during two days.
