On the longest day of the year, the sun is celebrated by people everywhere and Solstice at Wasing takes this moment to a new level with a vibrant festivity of music, nature, and human connection. From Saturday 20th June 2026, the festival that marks the Rite of Summer is all about letting off steam with a day-and-night seasonal celebration full of rhythm and community.
Thisis a carefully curated ceremony; a celebration to mark our gratitude for life and for the Sun - the giver of all life and energy. As day becomes night, we gather together around the fire, where through music, dance, song and prayer we honour the earth and her elements, especially fire, and give our thanks for the extraordinary gift of life, culminating in our torchlit procession to Solstice Hill to welcome in the Sun to his longest day.
Fire
Fire is at the heart of our Solstice ceremony. We will gather around our sacred fire to honour the sun at its peak and the life-giving energy it represents. Through ceremony, music and community, the fire connects us to ancient lineages, awakens inner wisdom, and sparks release and renewal. Share in the fire’s warmth with curiosity, listen to the wisdom of the flames, and remember who you are.
Sunrise Ceremony
We will welcome the longest day of the year in a shared moment of celebration and renewal at our Sunrise Ceremony. As our music around the fire draws to a close, we will gather in the Sacred Glade for our torch-lit procession to Solstice Hill. Guided by wisdom keeper Chris Park, with elemental offerings, fire and music, we’ll share a joyful and uplifting Solstice moment together.
Artists
Solstice at Wasing is guided by artists and ceremony leaders whose work is rooted in connection and shared presence. Through the night, music from Ayla Schafer, Omer Gonen-Haela, Дeva, Ripples Collective and Wider Horizons will weave through the woodland, holding space around the fire and into the dawn. From prayerful song and ancestral sound to intimate, soul-stirring performances, each artist shapes a ceremony that emerges from the land, the moment, and the community gathered.
Not far from Reading, Berkshire, the Wasing Estate is a place of calm and peace where the festival attendees can roam through the sunlit meadows, have a rest by the quiet, reflective waters of the estate’s lake, or dance under the tree-covered sky at The Woodland, a tiny open-air stage that is the perfect harmony of the nature surrounding it. For the solstice here, it is not only a time to see the great astronomical event of the year but also a time to get together, share and celebrate the natural cycles that connect us all.
The creation of the festival is in tune with the estate itself and the music, art, and movement are all integrated smoothly into the surrounding. The festival-goers can look forward to uninterrupted spaces for their adventurous spirit, silent nooks for their relaxation, and common areas where the warmth of summer and the shared happiness of the people present create a singular feeling of unity, from the time the sun comes up until it goes down.
The Wasing Solstice which is held at the time when the sun is at its zenith is free to everyone and is the perfect moment for people to experience the tempo of the earth and the delight which comes from the arrival of summer. It is a celebration of light, life, and connection—an invitation to pause, reflect, and revel in the season’s energy.
