The 11th edition of Rock in Rio Lisbon is set to make history in 2026. On 27th June – “Legends Day” – the City of Rock will bring together and celebrate the artists who have defined generations and built a music legacy that continues to inspire the popular culture of today.
One of the most iconic figures in global music history, Rod Stewart, returns to the festival after performing at the very first Rock in Rio in 1985 and at Rock in Rio Lisbon in 2008. This time, he brings a special show packed with hits that have transcended decades and remain part of the soundtrack of our lives.
A true rock icon with a career spanning more than five decades, Sir Rod Stewart will showcase his legendary showmanship and timeless hits, including ‘Maggie May’, ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?’, ‘Sailing’, ‘Every Picture Tells a Story’, ‘You Wear It Well’, ‘Tonight’s the Night’, ‘You’re In My Heart (The Final Acclaim)’, ‘Forever Young’, ‘Infatuation’, and so many more to Rock in Rio Lisbon’s World Stage for an unforgettable evening next summer.
With over 250 million albums and singles sold worldwide, Rod Stewart is one of the best-selling artists in music history. His distinctive voice, narrative songwriting, and stylistic versatility – spanning rock, folk, soul, R&B, new wave, and even the Great American Songbook – have made him one of the few artists to top charts in every decade of his six-decade career. His accolades include the Grammy Living Legend Award, Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, ASCAP Founders Award, two Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductions, and a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016 for his services to music and charity.
After performing at every edition of Rock in Rio Lisbon, Portuguese rock legends Xutos & Pontapés will curate the Music Valley Stage for the first time, featuring the likes of GNR, UHF, and TAXI — bands that together helped shape the DNA of Portuguese rock and continue to inspire new generations. It’s a momentous line-up full of surprises, special collaborations, and unforgettable moments that will be forever part of Rock in Rio Lisbon’s history. SYRO also joins the Rock in Rio Lisbon lineup today, opening the day at the Super Bock Stage and representing the modern face of Portuguese music – a voice that mirrors the energy and talent of the country’s new wave.
With Katy Perry (20th June) and Linkin Park (21st June) already confirmed for the iconic double weekender in one of Europe’s oldest cities and most popular travel destinations, Rock in Rio Lisbon is set for a bumper year in 2026, bringing together all generations with hits from the past, present and future of music.
Roberta Medina, Executive Vice President of Rock in Rio Lisbon, said: “Rock in Rio Lisbon has always been a stage for historic moments that stay in everyone’s memory. Legends Day is an invitation to celebrate life, a day to be together and sing in unison from the first to the last song. It’s a day that brings together great national and international legends who have shaped the stories of our lives and continue to move generations. Rock in Rio Lisbon is all about celebration, connection, emotion, and those timeless hits that give us chills when we sing them together.”
Taking place every two years and spread across two weekends in June, Rock in Rio Lisbon continues to evolve as one of the world’s most spectacular live experiences. The 2026 edition will see the City of Rock expanding by more than 25,000 m² and elevating its offering with new entertainment spaces, more comfort, and unforgettable moments.
